There are four phases to my training here at Harvest-Chicago. The first phase, only three weeks, was the Harvest DNA phase where I learned all things Harvest. The second phase has been preaching, eight total weeks, with each week dedicated to one aspect of preaching. The past week has concerned delivery of the sermon and this coming week, each of us church planters will preach sermons on Ephesians passages assigned to us. We will be preaching to a sizable chunk of the staff at Harvest. The worship team will be leading worship before and after our sermon. Essentially, this Friday, we will each have a simulated Harvest worship service during which we will be preaching. Therefore, we have to work with the worship team to determine the songs and flow of service, etc. This week will also simulate a "regular" pastoral week regarding preparation for the sermon. This training continues to be great!
My passage is Ephesians 4:7-16, one of my favorite passages in the New Testament. It will be posted online by next week sometime I hope!
Praying for you,
mike
