The birth of a Christian

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  John 3:6

Physical birth is celebrated throughout Scripture.  But spiritual birth trumps physical birth.

Christians should celebrate their spiritual birth.  I don't remember the exact day when I was "born of the Spirit" but I know I am because of changed affections and observing a power greater than that which is within me conforming me to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29).

I praise God for Mike, Sr. and Nancy Willis ... GREAT parents! 
I praise God for adopting me as one of His children and giving me a Spirit birth-day. 

I sat in the recliner this morning and thanked Him for the past year, His faithfulness and continuing mercy, and pleading for constant resolve in the coming year.  I meditated on John 3:1-21 for perspective and 1 Timothy 4 for resolve. 

Birthdays should be incline moments for our sober thinking and resolve for further energy unto God. 

God breathed your first breath into you, physically (Genesis 1-2).
If you're saved from His wrath by Jesus Christ, He breathed the Spirit new life into you (John 3).
God will one day take away your breath, physically (Job 1:21). 
God will never take away your Spirit birth, once you truly have it (John 10:27-29; Romans 8:31-39).

Our cakes should all have "Thanks God!" on them.
