Open House Recap

Posted by Mike Willis on Monday, November 03, 2008.
Hey everyone!

The first Open House for Harvest Bible Chapel-Raleigh was this past Thursday night and it went VERY well.  We had 16 people attend who were either committed or interested.  Kent Shaw and Bill Molinari from Harvest Bible Fellowship joined us.  We spent a little while mingling and then Kent opened the meeting by getting to know everyone (name, how they found out about Harvest-Raleigh, etc).  He then gave a Power Point presentation about Harvest Church Planting followed by taking some questions concerning our time line, why Raleigh, why I was chosen as Sr. Pastor, when and how autonomy occurs, what is a core group, and how we gather finances.

Then I shared my testimony coming to the Lord, being developed as a pastor by great pastors, and how I came to Harvest.  I explained how very important it is for all believers to be serving and worshipping at a disciple-making church where we can use and develop our Christ-given spiritual gifts (Ephesians 4:7-16).

We closed the Open House meeting with a baptism video from Harvest-Rolling Meadows (the original Harvest) and closed in prayer.

After the Open House, many remained for our first core group meeting during which we prayed and gave generously of our finances.  We will establish the next dates for core group meetings very soon.

We also had six really great meetings with several individuals and couples prior to and subsequent to the Open House.  These were to add further clarity and discuss God's mission for Churches while answering any questions they had.

Praise the Lord that several other couples have committed!  God is doing some great things in Raleigh as He leads us to plant a Harvest church there!

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Please pray for me today and for Jenny and Madeline Afable.  Jenny just lost her husband Marc to Ideopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.  Their daughter, Madeline, is two years old.  I am giving his funeral this evening.  It was a busy weekend in Raleigh.  We are now resting for just a few hours at our apartment in Elgin, IL, and soon I will head to the Rolling Meadows campus to continue my prep for the funeral this evening.  God continues to give the humble energy needed to minister to others - He does this for us ALL!

More to come ... more frequently ... very soon!
