Immeasurable God! Sit. Study. Sing

Posted by Mike Willis on Thursday, May 05, 2011.
We're driven to quantify, to count dollars and people and birthdays and wins. But there is One who is immeasurable. Whose character and attributes are unfathomable. Even to call them "character" or "attributes" is belittling. King David, in Psalm 8, while lying on a grassy hill staring into the heavens asked, "What is man that you are mindful of him?" Job got a humbling lesson in God's magnitude in Job 38-42. In Revelation, after he collapsed when he saw Christ, John heard the deafening worship in heaven and his ears never stopped ringing.

It's horrifying to hear so many making assumptions about God without ever sitting and studying the glimpse of who He is which He gave us in His Word. This Sunday begins the preaching series, "Immeasurable God! Sit. Study. Sing." A.W. Tozer wrote "What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." Sit and study God and you will rise singing. As you learn who He is while considering His aggressive affection toward you, you will rise singing.  We'll never be exhaustive when we study God. We can't write enough books and I can't preach enough sermons to quantify who God is and what He does. He is immeasurable!

So we sit. Study. Sing.
Sit. Study. Sing.
Sit. Study. Sing... deeper and louder, on mission here and aimed at joining heaven's deafening worship.
