It took two months for the Pilgrims to travel here. They prayed for divine providence during their journey in hopes of establishing a land of civil and religious liberty. We are all the recipients of their quest which allows us to worship together every Sunday and to pray around our tables without persecution. As Pilgrim Edward Winslow said after their near starvation upon arrival but later provision, "By the goodness of God we are...far from want." Might we not forget who is the Giver and might we be aggressive in thanks.
Harvest, I'm really, really thankful for you! It is a privilege to lead and serve you and to see, already, all the Lord is doing in and through us. I am better because of you and I give thanks to the Lord for all of you!
Us Willises hope you have an amazing Thanksgiving! I'll be endeavoring to prepare and cook the best turkey our family and some neighbors have ever tasted (a tall order with the cooks and experience around me). Currently, I am not thankful for the lie on the turkey about thawing time. So I pray that by the goodness of God, we will be...far from want.
