Gospel Marriage

Posted by Mike Willis on Friday, June 11, 2010.
V and I had the pleasure of joining over 40 other Harvest Sr. Pastor's and their wives early this week for a marriage and ministry retreat.  Here's a major and memorable take-away, from Garrett Higgby, that I have to pass along to you.

Husbands: LEARN, LOVE, LEAD your wives (1 Peter 3:7, Ephesians 5:22-33).
Wives: RESPECT, RESPOND, REMIND your husbands (1 Peter 3:1-6, Ephesians 5:22-33).

Each of these hinge on humble identity in Christ.  If you remove gospel humility from the table, pride and nagging jump on the table.  We all have to live and lead from humility.  Waiting for others to be humble will not produce their humility, it will produce further headaches.

ps: "REMIND your husbands" is not about his to-do list.  It's about reminding him who he is in Christ so he doesn't define himself according to this world.
