Giving groceries

Posted by Mike Willis on Sunday, November 07, 2010.
Harvest, you've heard now for two weeks about our plan to serve our community during the holidays.  We'll be taking a box of groceries to multiple needy Fox Road families.  Small group leaders will be given family names to get to each of you during the next few weeks.  Make sure to execute your plans discussed in your small group so that we maximize fruitfulness for these families and for your family.  If you're not already, get on your knees in prayer for these families.  Here is a provisional list of items that could go in your box (we're trying to keep the prep simple for the families):

Aluminum turkey pan
Turkey (12 Lbs)
Gravy (jar)
Stuffing/Dressing (box)
Instant mashed potatoes (box)
Green bean casserole
French fried onions (can) (recipe on back)
  French-style green beans
  Cream of mushroom soup (can)
Rolls
Cranberry sauce (canned)
Pie (pre-made: fruit or cobbler)
Put groceries in a box and wrap sides for fun
Ballpark total cost: $25

Some families may have certain dietary needs or cultural meal preferences and you can determine this during a phone call with the family.

Vanessa and several others have informed me that today's News and Observer is full of coupons for holiday meal items like cream of mushroom soup and Stovetop stuffing, etc.  I bet they'll keep coming, too.
