Christian Crack Babies

This isn't mean, it's meaningful...

Last week, I tried to write about 'Christian Crack Babies" but I couldn't get it to flow ... perhaps it will here.  This syndrome occurs when "Christianity" (quotes very intentional) is moralism.  This is a pandemic in a lot of environments.  Christian Crack Babies are actually addicted to nothing of Christ, they stay spiritual babies because they are fettered to behavior without the freedom of belief which causes gospel character, they become religious rather than transformed in Christ, they speak about 'law' or 'license' but not about the love of Christ, and the intended foundation in Christ is completely cracked by guilt and worldly expectations.  I used to be a Christian Crack Baby ... addicted to Christian culture rather than Christianity itself ... which is the message and mission of JESUS found in His own Words, NOT the words of culture.  One of my goals as the pastor of a church in a city where Christian Crack Babies are prevalent is to pump as much Jesus into people in prayerful hope that this will force out the crack and thereby rebuild the foundation of Christ. 

Your righteousness before God is not behavior-based, it's belief-in-Christ based.  This should be causing authentic transformation. 

I pray Christ for Harvest ... not crack.  Unfortunately, the latter is more addictive to our honor-shame nature.
