Bible Reading Plans

Posted by Mike Willis on Friday, January 06, 2012.
I'm going to make this really easy for you. Below are four Bible reading plans we have on our welcome table on Sunday mornings. Take a look and download what you like. Of course, there are countless more options. I'm currently enamored with YouVersion which also has an App (search "Bible", it's the first one listed, by LifeChurch.tv). This online or app resource has a ton of Bible reading plans including some big winners like short-term topical plans about joy, prayer, intentional parenting, overcoming addictions, and even Charles Spurgeon's "Morning and Evening" which will not only grow you in God's Word but also in your command of the English language and ability to illustrate the marvels of the gospel. You determine the length of plan you'd like (3 weeks or 3 months or 3 years). Take a look. Place the value. Pick a plan. Set a routine. Share what you are learning and how you are changing with others. For the last few years, I've been using the last one. It gets me through the Bible every year and has a built-in reflection day per week which I find to be helpful for reflection, yes, but mostly for catch-up or getting ahead a day. It's also short enough (15-20 minutes per day) that I have plenty of time to pray, too. It's always tucked inside the front cover of my Bible, sometimes even when I'm preaching.

Sorry about the crazy abbreviations. It's how I saved them on my computer. ("4 Ps" means 4 passages).

Make sure you read slow enough to comprehend on an application level (open your mind and heart).
