Everyone wants to belong to something, really belong. You know, being missed when you aren't able to come. Getting that follow-up call for an update and to update you. The warm welcome when you enter. Of course, this feeling grows exponentially when that sense of belonging surrounds a core purpose.
That's what it's like for our core group right now. Last night, at the core group meeting, I taught on walking with Christ and working for Christ (surrounding the same core purpose) and then we discussed together our spiritual gifts while affirming one another. Spiritual gifts are those God-given means of fruitfulness for His sake that, when used and developed with discipline, far exceed any earthly talents and are much more satisfying because of eternal fruit born in other's lives. It's being much more than a good-willed humanitarian, it's being a God-willed humanitarian, like Jesus was ... compassion AND truth.
It's been said that the most satisfying things in life are those you get on board with at the beginning. There is just a certain energy added to the fellowship of these increasing faithful ones.
