Amish buggies

Posted by Mike Willis on Sunday, November 23, 2008.
One of the most humbling things I am enjoying right now is being a "traveling preacher" for Harvest Bible Fellowship ... I'm nothing like Wesley who rode over 200,000 miles on his horse in the winter cold to preach, but I marvel that the eternal God who has spoken through His Word has little me doing this.  It is, as with all work for Him, an honor.

I have just finished my final look-through of the text and my notes for this morning's sermon in Arthur, IL.  I'm looking out the window while Amish buggies go by, mixed in with regular vehicles on these small town roads (3.5 hours south of Chicago).  Horse-drawn buggies are not the norm in Raleigh, Dallas, or Chicago unless you're getting an expensive, romantic tour of downtown.  These people are going to work or church.  It's funny to be in places like this.  The United States is united despite much diversity, huh?

I enjoy the time I get to spend with pastors and their families during travel - we are all connected through Christ so conversation flows easily.  Let's increase our conversation about our commonality in Christ, though we all came to Him through different circumstances, yet each by His grace.
