Aspire to Accountability

Posted by Mike Willis on Tuesday, June 16, 2009.
A lot of people don't go to church because they have a lot of issues they think they need to get "sorted out" first
Fact: You might never come to church and it's unlikely you'll get those things sorted out.  Jesus died and victoriously rose for you before you knew your issues (trust His ability, not your own).  You must be delighted with God before you'll be a delight to Him.

A lot of people don't go to a church that will keep them accountable because they want conscience freedom by attending without the TRUTH in love.
Fact: This isn't the kind of Church Jesus intends.

Some people go to a church that keeps them accountable in grace-filled, yet intentional small group confessional prayer times.
Fact: These people are real.  These people experience the amazing God.  These people find lasting change.

If you ask ten people to identify their biggest personal heartaches, their answers will be very similar.  If you ask those same people where they are now with these heartaches, the "at peace" ones will be those who have confessed, changed, and found the grace to be accountable to God's loving boundaries for the people He created.

"Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God."  Colossians 3:16
