A December to Remember

Posted by Mike Willis on Friday, December 03, 2010.

It's December.  The month when we are reminded that every kiss begins with Kay, that a December to remember requires a new Lexus miraculously parked in your living room, and that Clark Griswold, of all people, was able to survive!

The mix of Christmas songs on the radio is like a disturbing mix of fruitcake ingredients: Shakira singing Santa Baby and Sara Groves singing O Holy Night.  Are we at the point where Jesus is being folded-in to our seasonal souffle?  Where He is an ingredient and not the centerpiece?  We're a church not worshiping a Christmas tree but rather the Christ who died on a tree in order to plug us into eternal life if we repent and believe.  He transforms our darkness into light.  Yes, the Willis family will be increasing the kilowatt hour on our electricity bill by decorating our house with lights.  Let's also adorn the grace of God which is the gift of His Son and make this a December to remember.

The coming Sunday mornings at Harvest will focus on three Psalms:
Psalm 22 "Peace on Earth"
Psalm 23 "Be Near Me, Lord Jesus"
Psalm 24 "Let Earth Receive Her King"

Then, of course, we'll gather on Christmas Eve at 6pm, then 40 hours later on the Sunday after Christmas, in order to celebrate the first coming of the Prince of Peace.

Invite your people to come along.

Merry Christmas!
